Given the enormous amount of press-coverage of the Pit Bull breed, it is not unknown that the public have been moulded into a community which has grown afraid and hostile of the Pit Bull; leading to them being exiled and frowned upon.
A common misconception is that most people believe that the breeds’ temperament is the blame for labelling them as dangerous. But in fact they should not be singled out this; the main reason why the dog can be so dangerous is because of its environment and not genetics.
A dog, whether it be a poodle or a Pit Bull, will act the same if they are miss-treated. If the dog is taught from an early age to fear humans, rather than to live with them, then they will become aggressive and uncontrollable.
Pit Bulls do have a very powerful jaw, with a bite-force 235 pounds, but they are not alone in this -nor do they have the most power. What the media has ‘brain washed’ the public to think is that a Pit Bull is more hazardous than larger dogs like a German shepherd (bite-force of 238psi) or Rottweiler (bite-force 328psi), however it is no different to any other dog. Most large breeds have a very strong bite, and some even smaller dogs can inflict a bite powerful enough to kill.
Any dog can be dangerous in the hands of an irresponsible, negligent or abusive owner and one breed should not be singled out.

How do you feel towards the recent ‘dangerous dogs’ outrage?

I agree with you. The problem is the owners who raise the dog to be dangerous. The area which needs to be addressed is laws on owners of Pitbulls.
Well written and argued!!!
